Of course, there is great gain in godliness combined with contentment; for we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it; but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains. (1 Timothy 6:6-10, NRSV)
This is another passage that gets misquoted, like yesterdays, “Where your heart is there your treasure will be…” Nope Where you treasure is there your heart will be…
Money is the root of all evil! Again this isn’t it.
Money is simply a tool, a vehicle. It is not something that can make you do anything. But when you love it and seek after it and hold it higher than anything else in your life, then it will have power.
You see it is the love of money that is the root of all evil. When we love something more than God that is when it makes us chose wrong things and do things for selfish reasons.
Because we came into this world with nothing and we will take nothing out of this world with us. The things we have here are for the purpose of putting forth the kingdom of God.
So love God and use the things He gave you for the furthering of Hos kingdom. And remember you can’t take it with you!
