proclaim!

07 Aug

For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26, NRSV)

“For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”

Does this mean when we celebrate communion or when we sit down with friends around a meal and share bread and wine?

You see bread and wine were staples in Jesus’ day.

They were the most common elements of a meal that every family would have them. Bread and wine were there for every meal.

So every time you sit down at that table and share a meal with your family or friends you are proclaiming the Lord’s death!

You are proclaiming the love He has for all of us.

So share and proclaim away!

Very thought provoking today. I never thought about it as a daily reminder.
